Also known as:
Hedera helix
Uses:
• Coughs
• Chest congestion
Description:
Ivy is a plant which can be found easily in our gardens. It is a climbing
plant and it is the leaves which are used medicinally.
How it works:
Ivy is an example of a herb which has an expectorant action on the chest.
Expectorants loosen the mucus from the tubes of the lungs, encouraging its
expulsion and elimination. Often troublesome coughs indicate difficulty in
eliminating mucus and a herb such as Ivy, in thinning mucus, helps to clear
the chest.
Additional advice:
Consult a Doctor if blood is present in the mucus.
