Also known as:
Jerusalem Artichoke
Uses:
• Weight control
• Appetite control
• Syndrome X (blood sugar imbalances)
Description:
Helianthus is native to North America and is a member of the sunflower family,
sharing their ability to swivel around to follow the path of the sun.
How it works:
Helianthus slows down the rate at which sugars are broken down in the body.
This means that your food will give you energy for a longer period of time,
slowing down hunger pangs. Better metabolism of sugars also balances out swings
in blood sugar levels, reducing sugar cravings that come when blood sugar
levels drop.
Helianthus contains plant sugars that feed friendly bacteria in the gut, and
these bacteria break down undigested food particles. As Helianthus also contains
water soluble plant fibres, it helps to bulk up waste matters travelling through
the colon and thus improves bowel regularity.

No restrictions on use are known.
